Alleyway ZX
-----------

The classic handheld block-breaker comes to the ZX Spectrum 48K and 128K.

Alleyway ZX is an unofficial fan-made conversion of the 1989 handheld game.
Hit the descending ball with your paddle so it rises to demolish the blocks above.
Clear every breakable block to finish a stage; clear all 32 stages and the game ends in a fanfare.

Version 1.29 adds the 48K edition and -ombined tape loaders.

Features

- 24 stages plus 8 timed bonus stages
- Normal, scrolling and advancing block walls
- Faithful ball physics and stage layouts
- AY music and sound effects on 128K; beeper music and effects on 48K
- Smooth 50 Hz play with flicker-free sprites
- Original loading screen
- Keyboard, Kempston and Sinclair joystick support

How to play

Miss the ball and you lose a paddle; miss with none left and the game is over.
White blocks score 1 point, grey 2 and black 3. Grey and black blocks speed the ball up,
and from stage 4 the paddle shrinks when the ball hits the ceiling.
An extra paddle is awarded every 1,000 points (up to 9, none after 10,000).

- Normal: smash all the breakable blocks.
- Scrolling: rows slide back and forth, so aim well.
- Advancing: blocks sometimes drop a step as the ball leaves the paddle.
- Bonus: break all you can before time runs out; clear them all for a special bonus.
A miss simply ends the stage.
